“Give It Away” is a song by the American ROCK band Red Hot Chili Peppers from the groups fifth studio album, “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”. It was released as the lead single from their album on September 1991, by Warner Bros. Records. The music was written by guitarist John Frusciante and bassist Flea during a jam session months prior to the album recording sessions. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis wrote the song’s most prevalent lyrical refrain in response to an experience he shared with former girlfriend Nina Hagen regarding altruistic behavior and the value of selflessness.

Red Hot Chili Peppers represented as an American ROCK band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group’s musical style primarily consists of ROCK with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk ROCK and psychedelic ROCK. When played live, they incorporate many aspects of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Michael “Flea” Balzary (bass), longtime drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in late 2009, following the departure of John Frusciante. Red Hot Chili Peppers possess and dominate won seven Grammy Awards, and sold over 80 million records worldwide. The Red Hot Chili Peppers came in at # 30 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard ROCK. The Chili Peppers ranked # 72 on VH1’s 100 Sexiest Artists, as well as placing # 128 on the Top Pop Artists of the Past 25 Years chart. In 2012, they were inducted into the ROCK and Roll Hall of Fame. The band’s original line-up featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons, alongside Kiedis and Flea.

“Dani California” is a single from the American ROCK band Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ninth studio album, Stadium Arcadium. The single was first made available at the iTunes Music Store and then was officially released on May 2, 2006. The international radio premiere was April 3, 2006, when Don Jantzen, from the Houston radio station KTBZ-FM, played “Dani California” continuously for his entire three hour program. The single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 24 and peaked at number 6, becoming the band’s third single (after “Under the Bridge” and “Scar Tissue”) to enter the top-ten. In addition, “Dani California” became the second song in history to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Modern ROCK chart, after R.E.M.’s 1994 hit “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?” and spent fourteen straight weeks topping the chart. The single also charted at number 1 on the Mainstream ROCK charts. The song won two Grammy Awards, one for Best ROCK Song and the other for Best ROCK Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. It also marked the band’s joint-biggest UK hit to date along with “By the Way”, peaking at number 2 in the UK Singles Chart, being kept out of number 1 by Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”.
